F.A.Q.
-
I am a financial aid student, why do I need to enroll
with FACTS?
Even though you may be receiving a
financial aid award, the amount of your award may not cover your
outstanding balance in full. Changes in class schedules may result
in a change to the amount of financial aid that will actually pay
to your account. This partnership with FACTS helps to ensure
collection on our outstanding tuition payments that are a result of
unforeseen changes in our student’s schedules.

How do I enroll in the deferred payment plan?
Once you have submitted your FASFA to
the government, it takes about a week to get the information back to
start the financial aid process. FACTS recognizes your in process
financial aid and automatically enrolls you into the deferred
payment plan. This payment plan only offers one payment option
where payments do not begin until after financial aid has been
paid to your account. If there is a balance remaining on your
student account after financial aid is paid,
FACTS will process the
payments as schedule until the balance is paid in full.

-
How much does FACTS cost?
What are the fees?
There is no
charge by JCC directly. A non-refundable $30 enrollment fee will be
charged within 14 days of signing up under the regular monthly
payment plan option. For students signing up that have financial aid
in process with the deferred payment plan, the non-refundable $30
enrollment fee will charged within 14 days of the first payment
withdrawn from your account. If the payment plan is not activated,
no fee is assessed. All down payments will be processed immediately
from the account provided. There is no fee for all full payments
made through e-Cashier. These payments will be withdrawn
immediately.

How often do I need to enroll in FACTS?
You must
enroll with FACTS every semester. FACTS does not retain any personal
information.

Payments
are made electronically by registering a checking account, savings
account, or credit card with FACTS in the enrollment process. This
authorizes FACTS to withdraw/charge a specific amount on a specific
date to the provided account to pay your outstanding tuition
charges.

- ·When
will the payments be withdrawn from my bank account?
Full
payments and down payments are withdrawn immediately from the
provided account. FACTS attempts each monthly payment on the 5th
of the month. Missed payments will be re-attempted on the 20th
of the same month. Your financial institution determines the time of
the day the payment is debited. FACTS recommends that you check with
your financial institution to determine how far in advance funds
should be deposited into your account to ensure the automatic
payment clears. You will be responsible for any overdraft charges
from your bank and from FACTS for failed payments. If a payment date
falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the payment will be attempted
the following business day.

- ·What
if I don’t have a bank account or credit card?
You must
use a bank account or credit card to enroll with FACTS. If you do
not have one, you may ask someone else (such as a parent or
relative) for permission to use their account.

-
What if I miss a payment?
FACTS
re-attempts each missing payment until the balance is paid. They
will re-attempt a missed payment on the same day as a regularly
scheduled payment resulting in 2 or more payments being withdrawn
from your account. For each returned payment, FACTS assesses a $25
FACTS Returned Payment Fee. FACTS Returned Payment Fee are
automatically deducted from the provided account. JCC cannot stop
the Returned Payment Fee assessed by FACTS. If the FACTS Returned
Payment Fee is returned unpaid to FACTS, they will continue to
re-attempt this payment until the charge is paid in full. This fee
is paid directly to FACTS and JCC does not have any jurisdiction
over timing of the payment attempts. Your bank may also charge you
fees if your account is overdrawn. These fees are the account
owner’s responsibility. JCC can only stop the tuition payment
re-attempt if the student contacts the Business Office within 10
business days from the payment attempt.

-
If payments are made automatically from my bank account or processed
to my credit card, does that mean FACTS or JCC has direct access to my
account?
No one other
than
your own financial institution and you ever has access to your
account. When you arrange to have an automatic payment through
FACTS, you have authorized a specific amount to be paid on a
specific date by your bank.

-
How will I be notified of my payment information?
Once an agreement is posted to
the FACTS system, you will receive a confirmation notification of
your payment amount by e-mail or letter. The notification has
important information you MUST have to log on to My FACTS Account,
such as your FACTS Access Code. The notification also serves as a
reminder that a non-refundable $30 per semester enrollment fee will
be processed from the account indicated on the agreement. You will
also be notified of any changes to your JCC balance, this includes
schedule changes.

to your payment amount, you will receive an email notification or
letter from FACTS.
