Welcome Theater GoersGreetings and welcome to Jackson Community College! We are pleased to offer you a fine season of entertainment events. The performing arts enrich us all. It is one of the ways that JCC connects with the larger community and helps to broaden the cultural opportunities available in the area. JCC exists to serve the community in a variety of ways. With outstanding educational programs to help students earn associate degrees, certificates, credentials, prepare for transfer or meet individual needs, to being a community center for events such as these great performances. Your community college is a valuable resource. We welcome over 100,000 visitors each year, drawing residents from the South Central Michigan area, as well as from around the region. Visitors also enjoy our college productions, as well as Center Stage Jackson, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Shakespeare Festival and more. Businesses, civic groups, families and individuals reserve our spaces for their own special events. If you have the opportunity, visit our campus you’ll notice many exciting new developments. Campus View student housing is now complete and construction is underway for Campus View II, William Atkinson Hall library and information technology center opened in August 2007 and students make use of the building and its many technologies on a daily basis. Jets sports are back in full swing with young people again donning the maroon and gold. Make it a point to cheer on women’s and men’s basketball, soccer and cross country, women’s softball, men’s baseball and women’s volleyball. I hope that you enjoy our entertainment series, and don’t miss the great things going on at JCC! Daniel J. Phelan Welcome to the exciting 2008-09 season of entertainment at the Potter Center at Jackson Community College. A full season of acts is scheduled for the Sheffer Music Hall, with music, comedy, drama, spectacle and more! Finalists of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” return for an evening of laughs. Musical performances include Kenny Loggins, “The Letterman Christmas,” “A Tribute to the Legendary Ladies of Soul,” “1964: The Tribute” and “The Rat Pack is Back!” If dance and music are what you are looking for, you’ll want to make sure you see “Dancing Queen” celebrating the best music of the 70s including The Bee Gees, Abba and more. Sally Struthers comes to our stage in the hit comedy “Nunsense” and Argentina’s hottest tango show “Tango Fire” blazes with danger and exuberance! For the family we offer “A Christmas Carol” and “Pinocchio.” “Bowfire” returns with down home fiddling and dancing. Rounding out the season are “Momix” “Jesus Christ Superstar” plus “War of the Worlds” and “The Lost World.” The popular comedy series returns this fall with “Chicago City Limits,” “Hormonal Imbalance” and “Late Nite Catechism.” These will be presented in the Michael Baughman Theatre on the Jackson campus. There may even be an opening for another act in our schedule, so stay tuned. I would like to thank all of the individuals who support the arts in this area through ticket sales and donations.
