How to request material manually/offline through ILL

You may submit ILL requests to the ILL Librarian by email, sending the complete citation of each item you want, plus your name and contact information. Please be specific about your deadline for receiving the material.

You may also make use of the request cards available at the Circulation and Reference Desks

  • Books, dissertations, DVDs/videos, CDs/audiotapes, and other single works are ordered on the Green order cards
  • Articles and other portions of publications are ordered on the White order cards
  • ERIC documents (those with ED identifying numbers) are ordered on the Yellow cards

Complete the card/s as fully as possible. Please print; this will be very helpful to the ILL staff. Include an email address if you have one.

  • Please check the JCC Library online catalog to see if JCC owns the item before placing your request. We will not borrow items the Library owns if they are available.
  • Complete a separate card for each item requested.
  • Include the ISSN or ISBN numbers if you have them.
  • Include the date after which you no longer need the item.
  • Include the source of the citation, to facilitate double-checking if needed
  • Please avoid abbreviating, if possible. If the citation is given abbreviated, don’t guess; just provide what is given.

Help in completing ILL request forms is available at the Reference Desk or by emailing the ILL Librarian.

Two good sources for accurate materials citations are Michigan’s MeLCat and WorldCat in the FirstSearch databases group.

Good sources for accurate journal and magazine article citations are InfoTrac, many FirstSearch databases, and hardcopy Reader’s Guide located in JCC Library.
