Young Musicians Invited to Summer Band Camp

June 7-17, JCC Potter Center

Jackson Community College is hosting its 17th Annual Summer Band Camp from June 7-17 at the Potter Center.  The camp is specifically designed for young musicians, grades 5-8.  These students can receive great instruction and also benefit from the convenience and savings of the JCC program.

The Summer Band Camp morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, is geared for those who have completed the first year of instruction, usually after 5th or 6th grade.  The afternoon session, from 1-4 p.m., is designed for students in their second, third or fourth year, but who have not yet attended high school.  Over the past 16 years, hundreds of students have benefited from the atmosphere, level of instruction and final musical product of the camp. Students will learn from 30 hours of instruction with JCC Associate Professor of Music Ronald Douglass, conductor of the Jackson Community Concert Band.  The camp will be run in the Potter Center's Ruth Day Theatre and will culminate in a Finale Concert on Thursday, June 17.

With the rising costs of residential music camps, JCC offers an affordable alternative; cost for the 10-day camp is just $90.  Enrollment is limited to two well-balanced concert bands for the morning and afternoon sessions, so register soon. Call (517) 796-8559 for information or registration form.
