Auditions set for fall production, ‘When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?’

Jackson Community College will host auditions in September for its fall production, “When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?”

Community members and college students are welcome to audition from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 5 & 6 in the Ruth Day Theatre, Potter Center, on the main campus of JCC.  The cast calls for three women and five men.

“When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?” tells the story of a small New Mexico diner that lost most of its customers when a new highway bypass opened.  Into the monotonous daily grind of the diner’s usuals come a couple of strangers, an unbalanced Vietnam War veteran and his hippie girlfriend, who complicate issues and force others to take hard looks at themselves.  It does contain strong language and mature situations. The play was written in 1973 by Mark Medoff, who also wrote “Children of a Lesser God.”  It was adapted for the big screen and made into a film in 1979.

Production dates will be Oct. 18-21 and 26-27.  For more information, contact Sandy DiCesare, 517.796.8625.
