Students Invited to TopCoder Competition

Each year, students from around the nation and world compete in TopCoder Collegiate Challenge, testing their skills in computer science, mathematics, physics and other disciplines.

JCC Instructor Scott Larsen is interested in taking some JCC students to Orlando, Fla. to either compete or just watch the competition.  TopCoder features thousands of students from colleges and universities around the world began registering in July to compete online with the goal of advancing to the world-renowned TCCC onsite finals being held at Disney World in Orlando, Florida Oct. 30 – Nov 2.  Finalists will compete in algorithm, component design and component development divisions to earn a share of more than $220,000 in cash prizes.  More on the competition, including schedules, rules and guidelines, are available at www.topcoder.com/tccc07.

Students do need to pay their own travel and lodging fees to Orlando, Fla. and back.  JCC students interested in the competition should contact Larsen at LarsenScottC@jccmi.edu.
