For immediate release Men's and women's cross country heading to nationalsJackson Community College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams both placed in the top three in Saturday’s Michigan Community College Athletic Association/National Junior College Athletic Association Region X11 meet held in Lansing. Both teams will advance to the NJCAA National Championship on Nov. 10 at Rend Lake College in Ina, Ill. Men’s cross country runners finished the day with 80 points to place second behind Lansing Community College. Entering the regional meet, the men’s team was ranked 23rd, and they upset the 16th ranked team of Vincennes University. Jets runner Ian Buckley was the top JCC runner for the men with a time of 27 minutes, 31 seconds, finishing in 13th place. Women’s cross country runners finished in third place with 95 points, behind LCC and Oakland Community College. The Jets’ Alex Blair finished second with a time of 19:14, and Brittany Boucher finished in ninth with 21:04. “It was a good day of competition for both of our teams, and I expect the men and women to perform even better at Nationals,” said Coach Brian Olsen |
