For immediate release Community invited to view JCC’s new buildingsJackson Community College would like to invite the community to a special open house and tours of its two new buildings, William Atkinson Hall and Campus View student housing, from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. William Atkinson Hall houses the College’s library as well as information and technology staff, faculty and classrooms. The building has a large, open computer lab, multiple breakout study rooms with high-speed Internet access and LCD television screens, a collaboratorium with six 58-inch plasma televisions that can be used for video-conferencing with JCC’s Hillsdale LeTarte Center and JCC@VO-TECH in Lenawee County, learning studios with Wall Talker dry-erase wallpaper on every wall, a coffee café and outdoor learning garden. Technology demonstrations will be available, and a special video project completed by JCC students featuring local veterans will be presented. In recognition of Veterans Day, any veterans who attend will receive a U.S. flag pin. Campus View is JCC’s first residential unit, featuring 24 suites housing 96 students, and one live-in manager. The facility has common lounge and study areas, laundry and vending machines, convenient parking and numerous security measures for residents’ safety. Visitors are invited to start at Atkinson Hall, just to the east of the Potter Center. Refreshments will be available in the lobby of James McDivitt Hall. Visitors are also invited to stay for the opening home basketball games in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse, with women starting at 5:30 p.m. and men at 7:30 p.m. Both games are free. # # # |
