Musical version of 'A Christmas Carol' a treat for young people

Young people and those young at heart will enjoy the musical interpretation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” to be presented at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center.

In this music version, we first meet the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve, as he is complaining about having to give his clerk, Bob Cratchit, the next day’s holiday off. While Scrooge deems Christmas is merely “humbug,” he is visited that evening by a succession of spirits that show him the consequences of his actions, prompting him to reconsider his outlook on life. “A Christmas Carol” captures both the humorous and touching moments of the classic story with witty dialogue and fresh new songs.

Tickets for this performance are $7 and may be purchased by calling the Potter Center Box Office at 517.796.8600, or online at www.jccmi.edu under “Visitors” and “Events.”
