JCC hosting auditions for Young Artist Competition

Jackson Community College will host competitive auditions for instrumental musicians in the Young Artist Competition on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008.

The Young Artist Competition is open to musicians under the age of 25 as of Jan. 1, 2008. Each applicant must perform a published solo work with available concert band accompaniment, and provide a piano accompaniment for the audition. Auditions will be critiqued by a respected panel of judges, and the winner will perform with the Jackson Community Concert Band in the March 2, 2008 concert and receive a $300 prize.

Applications are available through high school, university and college music departments. Deadline for applications is Friday, Jan. 4.
