Cross country teams move up in national ranking

Jackson Community College’s men’s and women’s cross country teams have moved up in the Top 25 national poll by the National Junior College Athletic Association; for week 6, the men are ranked 19th and the women 23rd.

Both cross country teams had great races over the weekend at the Lansing Invitational, coach Brian Olsen said. The JCC Jets Brendan Martin of Stockbridge set a new school record with a time of 26:03 in the 8K run, and four Jets finished in under 28 minutes. The women also had a good race, with Cayla Nousain of Concord completing the 5K run in 19 minutes for a fifth place finish.

Jets cross country teams will run at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships at 3 p.m. Friday at Calvin College.
