JCC Jets player named Pitcher of Week by NJCAA

Jets baseball pitcher Daniel Bream pitched two shutout games last week for Jackson Community College, and earned Division II Pitcher of the Week honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The 6-foot 6-inch sophomore pitched seven innings against Kalamazoo (9-0), allowing six hits, two walks and striking out seven. Later in the week, he pitched five innings against Kellogg (10-0), allowing only one hit, two walks and striking out five. He is currently 5-1 on the season, with a .900 ERA.

Bream is majoring in accounting and has a grade point average of 3.24. He is a graduate of Coldwater High School in Coldwater, Mich.

“Dan has set a great standard for what pitchers have to be like at JCC,” Rick Smith, head baseball coach, said. “His mound presence, leadership, will to win and academic excellence have all contributed to his success with the Jets. We are very proud to have Jackson Community College and a student-athlete like Dan recognized at the national level.”
