Jets outfielder to play for Southern Arkansas

Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that Christopher Harrison, a sophomore who plays right field for the Jets, has signed with Southern Arkansas University to play baseball next year.

Harrison is a native of Saline, Mich., and was listed as an NJCAA Division II Top Returning Athlete for 2009. He is currently hitting .436 with 10 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 37 RBI’s in 108 at bats. Harrison also has 10 stolen bases, and is the first player to hit for the cycle -- a single, double, triple, and home run in a single game -- since JCC brought back baseball, completing it against Kellogg Community College April 4 in big wins for the Jets.

“Chris is our leader offensively and is playing very well in right field,” said Rick Smith, head coach for the Jets. “I am pleased and proud that he will have the opportunity to continue playing for a four-year university next year.”

Southern Arkansas University is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
