College to officially open second student housing facility
Jackson Community College will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, to officially open Campus View II, the College’s second student residence.
Students will begin moving in to Campus View II in August, in time for Fall semester. With JCC’s first student housing unit full, the Board of Trustees authorized design work to begin on a second unit in March 2008. Campus View II has a similar design to the first building, with the addition of a half basement for student activities. It will house an additional 96 residents, doubling JCC’s on-campus resident population. Construction cost is $8 million.
This short ceremony will include comments from college officials, tours of the new facility and refreshments. The community is invited.
