Jackson basketball legends to take on JCC Jets in 'fun-raising' event

Jackson Community College will host a basketball event between several Jackson-area basketball greats and the current JCC Jets men’s basketball team at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30 in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse, Jackson campus. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with players on hand to meet and sign autographs.

This fun exhibition event will feature basketball, games and giveaways! Several former Jackson-area legends will be on hand, including:

  • Kara Braxton, plays for Detroit Shock in WNBA, played for Jackson High.

  • Keonta Howell, played for Jackson High, played professionally with the European team, the Guildford Heat in England.

    Note: Keonta has been called to Europe to play so he will not be able to attend. Good luck, Keonta!

  • Justin Ingram, graduate of Lansing’s Waverly High and former Toledo University star who played professionally in France for the JL Bourg team in their Pro-B league. Ingram is son of Mike Ingram, former Parkside High School basketball star.

  • Jarred Axon,played professionally on NBA Developmental Team in Fort Wayne, Ind., the Mad Ants; played for Jackson High, Schoolcraft College and Eastern Michigan University.

Bring the family for a fun afternoon of basketball and prizes. There will be a children’s free-throw contest at halftime, along with prizes and giveaways. Proceeds from this event will benefit JCC’s Men of Merit student organization to be used to provide school supplies for local youth.

Admission is $5 per person, or $12 for a family of four. Donations of school supplies in like amount will be accepted as admission.
