JCC signs softball players from Jackson, Adrian for next year's team

Jackson Community College signed two softball players this week to play for the 2010-11 academic year.

Kristin Espinoza is a pitcher from Adrian who plays for the Clinton High School Redskins. She received 2008 All-District, All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-State honors, and 2009 All-District, All-Region honors and was Wendy’s WLEN Athlete of the Week.

“We are very fortunate to have an athlete like Kristin coming to our pitching staff,” said softball coach Heather Sherwood. “She brings a good mix of pitches and her knowledge of the game is impressive!”

Whitney Weeks is a first baseman/shortstop from Jackson who plays for the Northwest High School Mounties. She was named Team Most Valuable Player, Cascades Area Athletic Conference Red All-Conference, and Jackson County Dream Team honors. She also participates in the Consumers Energy Options Program and was twice named Academic All-Conference.

“Whitney brings athleticism and hard work to our program,” Sherwood said. “We are excited to have Whitney next fall!”
