Get tickets now for Boys Scouts’ Event, 100th anniversary celebration
Jackson Community College will host the Great Sauk Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizens Award Event on Thursday, May 13 at 6 p.m. in the Potter Center on the Jackson campus.
The event marks the 100th anniversary for the Boy Scouts. It will honor Kathy Schmaltz, freelance broadcaster who previously worked as an anchor of the WILX-TV 10 news for more than 10 years. She is active in the community, serving on many nonprofit boards and projects, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way, Wendy’s Charity Classic LPGA Adoption Event, and the Michigan Dyslexia Institute. Honorees for this award are leaders who give back to the community, believe in youth-based programs and help promote community involvement.
Boys Scouts were formed in 1910. Since its founding, more than 110 million Americans have been members.
