40th anniversary Rose Run planned for June 12
With events for all ages, individuals and teams, the 40th Annual Rose Run will be held Saturday, June 12 at the Jackson campus of Jackson Community College, beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, P.C. will be the title sponsor, and the Rose Walk will again be sponsored by Jackson Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Rose Run features both a 5K run and 5K walk on the roads around the JCC campus, as well as both a “hybrid” 5-mile run and 5-mile relay that combines road running with trails used by the JCC cross country team. The three-member team relay race covers the same course as the 5-mile hybrid race, with first person running 1½ miles, second person runs 2 miles, and third person runs 1½ miles. Participants in the relay carry a baton which must be passed from runner to runner at the exchange points.
This year’s race will again raise funds for the JCC cross country team. Special awards will be presented to the overall male/female, overall masters male/female, and overall grand masters male/female participants. The top three winners in each adult age group will receive a custom glass, and medals will be presented to the top three in each of the younger age divisions.
