Strike up the bands! Front Porch Concerts feature music in outdoors setting
Enjoy great music in a fun outdoor setting when Jackson Community College presents the Front Porch Concert Series, free events for the whole family in June!
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy one of the three concerts planned outside JCC’s Potter Center. These concerts are fun, free, accessible and guaranteed – activities will move indoors in case of inclement weather. This year’s concerts include:
- June 17: Capital City Brass Band, 7:30 p.m. The Capital City Brass Band is an all-volunteer brass and percussion ensemble inspired by the traditional British-style brass band model.
- June 20: Trombonefest, 7:30 p.m. Trombonists from all over Michigan, as well as the rest of the U.S., gather here in Jackson to share their passion for the trombone. The music will include beautiful ensemble selections from the classics, as well popular music and jazz. Guest artists this year are Carl Poposki and the “Michigan Trombone Project,” a fantastic jazz septet with four trombones and rhythm section.
- June 29: Pre-Fourth of July Concert, Jackson Community Concert Band, 7:30 p.m. Lots of exciting and entertaining music, including the return of Professor Alana Tuckey, soprano, who will sing with the band. The Jackson Community Concert Band is comprised of JCC students and community members, under the direction of Conductor Ronald L. Douglass, associate professor of music.
