High school all-stars to face off in 127 North-South Senior Classic

High school basketball all-stars will take to the court in games for boys and girls on Sunday, June 13 in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse, Jackson Community College, in the 127 North-South Senior Classic.

The Jackson Area Senior All-Stars will face the Lansing Area Senior All-Stars in this new event, girls game at 2 p.m. and boys at 4 p.m.

“I wanted to host an all-star game for many reasons,” said Steven Finamore, coach of JCC’s men’s basketball team, who is organizing with Andrew Hoaglin, JCC women's basketball coach. “One being giving something back to the game. Two, many players from these two areas don’t get a chance to play in an all-star game. Third, it would be nice to begin a friendly rivalry between the players who are so close in terms of proximity.”

A selection committee of media members and former coaches has been formed to nominate 10 players for each team. A Most Valuable Player (MVP) from both teams will be selected at the conclusion of the games. Local sponsors will provide shirts for the players.

Admission is free and the public is invited to this all-star event.
