Whiting Hall renovations nearly complete, rededication planned

Jackson Community College will celebrate the completion of renovations to Justin Whiting Hall with a rededication ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 on the Jackson campus.

Construction crews have renovated Justin Whiting Hall’s east and west wings to allow for program expansion, advanced classroom technologies, state-of-the-art instructional laboratories and more. Renovations began in 2009 and are complete in time for Fall semester classes. Work continues on a new 42,000-square-foot health learning center addition, which will be complete in 2011. The total project will cost $21.9 million, with half paid by capital outlay dollars from the State of Michigan. This project will help to ensure quality learning environments and technology for JCC students.

The rededication ceremony will take place in front of the newly renovated east entrance with JCC President, Dr. Daniel J. Phelan, and the JCC Board of Trustees. Students and community are invited. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the new building.
