Jackson's Kim Boobyer to coach women's golf team
Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that Kim Boobyer will be the new women’s golf coach for the 2010-2011 season.
Boobyer is a Jackson native and local professional golf instructor, teaching at several different courses. She’s played golf since her freshman year of high school, and apprenticed under PGA and LPGA professionals for nine years, in Naples, Fla. and in Jackson.
Jackson has a lot of talent to offer on the links, and Boobyer looks forward to working with the JCC team.
“I want to mentor our young women and develop a competitive team,” Boobyer said. “I want to develop not just young athletes, but remarkable people who are winners in life and not just on the playing field. I want to help them develop character and build confidence so they can be not only the best athlete but also the best person they can be.”
In her personal life, she is married to husband, David, himself a JCC student who played on the men’s team last year. She has one stepson, Jack, who is 12, and a daughter, Samantha, who is 5. Boobyer is a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church and is active in her parish.
