JCC joins with ADCO Products in new training agreement
Jackson Community College has signed an agreement with ADCO Products of Michigan Center to provide training to new employees through the Michigan New Jobs Training Program.
The training agreement will cover 32 of several new employees ADCO will be hiring and will include the training and development of staff as required for specific jobs. The contracted amount is $71,865.48, with $59,785.66 to be used directly for training. ADCO announced an expansion project in March slated to bring more than 200 jobs over the next five years at the Page Avenue location in Michigan Center.
“ADCO Products is committed to providing employee education and training, it is something they believe strongly in,” said Heather Harback, director of Corporate and Continuing Education at JCC. “This agreement represents the first of what we hope are many more Michigan New Jobs Training Project projects to come from the region. JCC, through the MNJTP and other efforts, remains committed to positively impacting economic development efforts in the region wherever we can.”
Training will begin this week. This program is designed to help the company, the College, and boost the local economy.
The Michigan New Jobs Training Program is a unique economic development incentive tool that provides resources to employers creating new jobs or expanding. Training is funded through the diversion of Michigan state income taxes associated with new employee’s wages and redirecting it to the College, instead of the state. The program was proposed by JCC President Dan Phelan and modeled after one he helped to launch several years ago while working at a community college in Iowa.
