Mission Employable targets improving job search, interview skills
Get schooled in how to land a job at Mission Employable, a special event to help Jackson Community College students and alumni learn more about how to land a job, from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 in Justin Whiting Hall Room 151.
This special event will be a career fair-like experience, with various stations set up to teach skills vital to job searching and interviewing. For example, one station will discuss body language such as a firm handshake and eye contact, another will talk about first impressions in greeting, appearance and attire, another will discuss resume writing, another will discuss interviewing skills, top interviewing questions, and more. The MOC-1 (Mobile One-Stop Center) will be present, designed to help students and jobseekers build their skills and connect with jobs.
“Students will be encouraged to go into a different area and practice these skills through a mock interview with local employers and workforce development professionals,” said Tina Matz, employment advisor for JCC’s Employment Services office, part of Corporate and Continuing Education.
Mission Employable is free and open to JCC student and alumni. For more information, call Matz at 517.796.8671.
