Potter Center cafeteria, library open as cooling centers

Jackson Community College welcomes local residents to beat the heat by opening both the Robert Snyder Commons, in the George Potter Center, and the JCC Library, located in William Atkinson Hall, as cooling sites Thursday and Friday.

With temperatures of 100 degrees and above and excessive heat warnings in the forecast, local residents are advised to avoid prolonged exposure to the heat, which may lead to heat exhaustion. The Robert Snyder Commons, located on the first floor of Potter Center, features numerous televisions, comfortable seating, food service available Thursday through lunch hours, and vending machines. The JCC Library has a large computer commons area, comfortable seating areas and more.

The Robert Snyder Commons in Potter Center is open till 9 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The JCC Library is open Thursday till 10 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bus service to JCC from downtown Jackson is available.
