10/13/05 For immediate release JCC student performers get moving with 'Marcus is Walking'Jackson Community College's first production of the school year will be "Marcus is Walking: Scenes from the Road," a series of 10 unrelated vignettes that take place in and around an automobile. "Marcus is Walking" is a marvelously offbeat, winning performance. The play examines the emotional road we travel in our cars. Control, navigation, love and escape are some of the themes explored. A protective father shepherds his son through the neighborhood on Halloween; a devastated businessman strikes up an unlikely alliance with a homeless woman who sleeps in his car; a couple argue over directions on their way to a potluck dinner; and mother takes her unwilling family on a fall Sunday drive. Explore the landscape of human frailty and vulnerability, charm and strength; a playwright's whimsy combined with a shrewd sense of observation. "These are dramatic and humorous little slices of life," said Sandy DiCesare, director and theatre instructor. Performers include: Amber Wood, Stephen Kamke, Jenny Compau, Bonnie Hyden, Katherine McNally, Christine Ketner, Alex Hutt, Chris Biek, Liz Howard, Chris Fultz, Jerrell Rodriguez and Bryon Lewis. Performances will be held October 21, 22, 28 & 29 at 8 p.m. and October 23 & 30 at 3 p.m., in the Ruth Day Theatre, Potter Center. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors; children 6 and younger are free. For more information, please call (517) 796-8600. |
