Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration to feature Dominique DawesDecember 21st, 2006 Jackson Community College will welcome Olympic Gold Medal gymnast Dominique Dawes to the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 in the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse on main campus. Dawes will present a keynote address on “Inspiring the Olympian Within You.” Get on the fast track for corrections jobs!December 20th, 2006 Jackson Community College will offer a fast-track program this Winter semester for individuals hoping to become corrections officers. The Michigan Department of Corrections is expecting 240 new job openings by May 21, 2007, with wages starting at an estimated $30,000 per year. JCC receives grant from Jackson County Community Foundation for high school drama competitionDecember 15th, 2006 Jackson Community College is pleased to announce that it recently received a grant in the amount of $3,345 from The Jackson County Community Foundation. This grant was awarded through the Jackson Citizen Patriot Literacy Fund, which is a component of the Foundation. JCC student housing to begin accepting applications for residentsDecember 7th, 2006 Jackson Community College’s new student housing, Campus View, is now accepting applications for residents for Fall 2007 semester. Campus View student housing is currently under construction and will be ready for occupancy in time for the Fall 2007 semester. King Medal of Service Awards announcedDecember 5th, 2006 Jackson Community College is pleased to announce the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medal of Service Awards for 2007, to be presented at the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Jan. 20. This year’s recipients include the Rev. Jay Cummings, and Charles and Patricia Anderson of Jackson.
