May 10th, 2007 For immediate release Sports camps on deck for summerWith the return of sports, Jackson Community College will offer young people the opportunity to participate in summer sports camps! Volleyball Camps: Junior Jets Camp is set for July 16-18 and is designed for girls in grades six through nine. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and cost is $125 at the Rando Activity Center, 3055 Shirley Drive, Jackson. Girls will work on fundamental skills needed to play volleyball and build a foundation for future success. Camp for girls in grades 10-12 is July 22-25. This camp will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and cost is $175. Girls will work on fundamental skills and put them to use in game-like situations and drills. Each camper will receive a T-shirt, lunches each day, and will have the opportunity to work with top area coaches and current JCC Jets players. Baseball Camps: Baseball summer training camp for boys will be held on June 25-26 and July 9-10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the JCC baseball diamond on main campus, 2111 Emmons Road. Campers will work on hitting fundamentals, infield and outfield play, catching drills, pitching and catching mechanics and base running. Participants should bring a bat, glove, batting glove, practice gear, helmet and sunscreen. Each player will receive quality instruction from professional coaches, lunch both days and a T-shirt.
