Potter Center individual tickets for 2007-08 season to go on sale Monday

Tickets for the 2007-08 season at the Potter Center at Jackson Community College go on sale Monday, July 23. New this year will be a comedy series of three plays, planned for the Michael Baughman Theatre.

  • Defending the Caveman, 7:30 p.m. November 2 & 3, 2007. “Caveman” is a hilariously insightful work about the ways men and women relate that has both sexes roaring with laughter and recognition.
  • Late Nite Catechism, 7:30 p.m. January 31 and February 1, 2008. This uproariously funny play my take some audience members back to their youth as an irrepressible “Sister” teaching class to a roomful of “students,” (the audience).
  • Hormonal Imbalance, 7:30 p.m. March 14 & 15, 2008. This “Mood Swinging Musical Revue” starts with four richly gifted singer-songwriters, adds three-quarters cup of married life, four-part harmony vocals, one piano, four guitars, one Rockin’ Purple Bass, a dollop of sharp social commentary, a pinch of PMS and a wardrobe of bling-bling to create an Estrogen-fueled show that celebrates the bet of babes, boys and Botox.

This season's lineup of performers for the Potter Center Bravo Series includes:

  • Comedian Bill Cosby, 4 & 8 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2007. Enjoy America’s favorite funnyman live on stage.
  • Parody artist “Weird Al” Yankovic, 7 p.m., Sunday, September 23, 2007. A favorite parody artist, in a career spanning nearly three decades he has amassed 28 Gold and Platinum albums, seven Gold and Platinum-certified home videos, and three Grammy Awards.
  • Country artist Clint Black performs as part of his Up Close and Personal tour, 8 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2007. Clint Black is a country favorite, a prolific songwriter and performer who has written, recorded and released more than 100 songs.
  • The musical “Peter Pan,” 3 & 8 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007. A classic tale of youth, joy and freedom – all captured in a lavish new production of this Tony Award-winning Broadway musical.
  • Finalists of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007. It’s an unforgettable evening of laughs with the top comics who America voted for as the funniest in the world!
  • Country music legends Oak Ridge Boys Christmas, 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2007. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of the Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of country hits and a No. 1 pop smash, and the Christmas show is always a favorite.
  • Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy, 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2007. Imaginative theatrics combined with world-class acrobatics make Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy an exhilarating journey the entire family can experience together.
  • New Shanghai Circus, 4 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2008. If it’s humanly possible – and even if it’s not – Shanghai’s acrobats, jugglers and contortionists do it with spectacular flair.
  • Blast! takes the stage 8 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008. Creating a new genre with color, light and movement, BLAST! explodes with exciting young artistry as it merges marching band and drum corps style in a theatrical performance not soon forgotten.
  • The talented group of singers from “down under,” The Ten Tenors performs at 8 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2008.
  • The Stepcrew performs at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008. Straight from the Ottawa Valley of Canada, this form of dancing resembles a cross between tap and Irish dancing that must be seen to be appreciated.

Two children’s productions are planned:

  • Christmas Carol, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007.
  • Charlotte’s Web, 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2007.
