History comes alive at 'The Shire of Talonval'

Take a trip back in time when Jackson Community College welcomes the Society for Creative Anachronism to campus to present The Shire of Talonval, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 on the Jackson campus.

The Society for Creative Anachronism is dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, pre-17th century Europe. Members research the life and times of people from that era and recreate daily life at events that are living history. Visitors will have the opportunity to see firsthand arts and crafts such as weaving, inscribing and calligraphy,  see dances from the period and much more.

Laurie Adamo of Jackson is a member of SCA and will be participating in The Shire of Talonval. She said the Jackson area SCA group is planning this event to help promote it to more students. SCA is a recognized JCC interest group, and this event is sponsored by the JCC Student Parliament.

There is no charge for the event, and the community is welcome.

SCA is an international organization with 30,000 members in countries around the world.
