International Students

Admission requirements for international students are affected by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (USINS) regulations. Any individual who has been admitted to the United States in a temporary, non-resident status will be classified as an international student at Jackson Community College (JCC).

Please note: International students may not apply to the college via our on-line application link. Please read the following information before requesting our International Student Information and Application Forms packet.

A.If you seek admission for a specific semester as an F-1 student, you must have all of your completed forms and required documentation submitted by the following deadlines:

Semester of Admission Deadline
Fall - August May 15
Spring - January October 15
Summer - May March 15

B. Naturalized citizens, permanent U.S. residents, and green card holders may register during any regular registration period provided that formal documentation of proof of status is presented.

C. For prospective students seeking F-1 status, the following items must accompany all completed application forms and supporting documentation:

  • JCC Admissions Application
  • Passport size photo
  • Complete Financial Resource Statement
  • A brief personal statement explaining your previous educational background and your future educational plans
  • An original high school transcript in English. If you have already attended another college or university, you must submit your college transcript (in English) in addition to your high school transcript.
  • TOEFL score of not less than 550 (paper) 213 (computer) or MELAB score of not less than 75% (unless a citizen of a TOEFL-exempt country).
  • I-134 Affidavit of Support completed by a resident of Jackson, Lenawee, or Hillsdale County

Costs:

Costs for one year of full time study at Jackson Community College are calculated as follows:

Tuition and Fees $  3,300.00
Room and Board $  5,500.00
Books and Supplies $  1,000.00
Transportation $  1,200.00
Miscellaneous $  1,800.00
Total Estimate $ 12,800.00

Please Note: Jackson Community College offers no financial aid, housing, or transportation assistance to international students.

Additionally, F-1 students are not allowed to work during their stay in the U.S. except on a very limited basis and then only during the second year of their program of studies.
