New Student Orientation
Welcome to Jackson College! We are thrilled that you have chosen to be a part of our community. Every new student entering JC must attend a mandatory New Student Orientation. Orientation is designed to provide you with the tools needed to succeed. Each session is about 2.5-3 hours long and includes the following:
- Overview of college policies, programs and resources
- Information about financial aid
- Meeting with an academic advisor for course scheduling (only available to students with appropriate test scores)
- Assistance with course registration
- A brief campus tour
Although several orientation sessions are scheduled both before and after the start of the registration period, it is to your advantage to attend orientation as soon as you can. Sessions will fill up quickly. Orientation clears the way for you to register for courses. This means that the earlier you attend an orientation session, the sooner you can register and the likelier it is that you will find the courses that meet your preferences and schedule. You must sign up for orientation in advance.
Students who have already attended Great Start Advising at the Central Campus or an orientation session at Hillsdale and Lenawee campuses do not need to attend new student orientation. Guest students and dual enrolled students are also exempt from the mandatory orientation requirement. For more information, please review our list of Frequently Asked Questions.
