Campus View
Frequently Asked Questions
I want to live on campus, what do I do?
We are currently accepting contracts for the 2008 - 2009 year. If you are interested in receiving
campus housing information and a contract please call 517.796.8656 to complete a housing interest card.
The Housing Interest Card does not guarantee a space, however
we will send information (updates, contracts, bed space confirmation, etc.) as necessary.
What happens once I receive, complete and submit a contract?
The process is then in our hands. We date/time stamp each contract that comes
in and we assign (as space is available) based on when we receive students
information.
How do I set up a tour for Campus View?
Students interested in receiving a tour of Campus View we ask that you call 517.796.8539 and
arrange a date and time with Latisha. Due to continuous occupancy there are preset times for tours
which assists in less disruption to the residents in the building. We do appreciate your understanding and
pre-registering for tours.
What does the security deposit do?
It is just like any other security deposit. It secures a bed space as space permits.
For students who fulfill the terms of their contract it will be used in the event there is case of
damage to the room. Please review the terms and conditions on the contract for details about forfeiture.
Where do I turn in my contract or my money?
You can turn in the contract at the Campus View service desk. The service desk
can take cash or a check payment. If you have a credit card or other forms of payment
you have to go to the cashier's office.
Where's the cashier's office?
In Bert Walker Hall, the same place as student services.
How much does it cost to live at Campus View?
There are two different contract options to select from.
Contract option 1 is a 12 month contract beginning in August and ending in August.
(Dates based on Academic Year schedule). Cost is $5940 which is split into two payments of
$2970.
To compare to off campus apartments the cost breaks down on a 12 month contract to $495 a month.
This cost includes heat/air, electric, water, on site trash, telephone (with local and long distance calls
within the continental United States), wireless internet, two bathrooms, furnished bedroom,
living room and kitchen.
Contract option 2 is a Fall/Winter only contract beginning in August and ending in May. (Dates based on
semester schedule). The cost is $5150 which is split into two payments of $2575.
When are payments due and where do I make payment?
Per the housing contract payment is due 10 days prior to semester move-in. Students can make payments
directly to the cashiers office located Bert Walker Hall or by mail to:
Jackson Community College
Office of Residence Life
2111 Emmons Rd.
Jackson, MI 49201
When sending checks or money orders
please make checks payable to Jackson Community College and in the memo line write:
Student ID number, student name and the word Housing.
Do you have spaces available?
At this time demand for on campus housing is exceeding available bed space. We encourage interested students
to continue submitting interest cards and housing contracts as we anticipate cancellations. We are unable
to guarantee the number of cancellations or if those placed on the wait list will receive a space.
The office of residence life will maintain contact with the individuals placed on the wait list.
What is a wait list?
In respect to campus housing a wait list is created when demand exceeds bed space availability. A wait list
for both males and females is created and as space by gender becomes available individuals from the
wait list are contacted and offered a bed space. Individuals on the wait list are ordered by time, date and
application/security deposit received.
What happens if I am on the wait list and I don't get a bed space or I cancel my contract?
Students on the wait list will be contacted at the end of July and provided information on the
likelihood of receiving a bed space before fall move-in.
If students on the wait list opt to cancel their contract they will be refunded the $200 security
deposit.
