Regarding Testing Lab Security

  • For security purposes, all students coming into the lab for testing must have a valid form of either federal-issued or state-issued photo identification ready to present to the Testing Proctor on duty.
  • The Testing Proctor on duty will hold a student's identification for the duration of the exam and will return it upon completion of the exam.

(Closed for Holiday weekends and Semester breaks)

All exams are collected at closing time. Students should allow ample time to complete tests before the Lab closes.

Testing Lab Mission:
To provide JCC students, applicants and guest students with a routine location to complete assessments and course exams in a comfortable, secure environment.

The Scope of this Mission:
To provide a testing environment for:

  • Course Placement Online

  • JCC students

  • Online MCCVLC students

  • Testing arranged by instructors

  • Partner colleges


Reservations:

Prospective students and current students may drop in during regular JCC Testing Lab hours.

Instructors may also reserve additional computer labs for other times to better fit the needs of larger groups and simultaneous testing for entire classes.  To make arrangements for this, please call (517) 796-8495.


Special Accommodations:

Students who need special accommodations due to physical impairments or learning disabilities must contact the Center for Student Success, (517) 796-8415. Students must  make arrangements at least one week prior to taking the exam or Course Placement assessment.

Course Exams:

  • Exams are distributed from WA 118

  • Students must sign in and show a valid photo ID. Exams are taken in the Testing Lab, which is monitored by proctors and by security cameras

  • Students should not bring items to the Testing Lab.  No children, pets or electronic devices are allowed in the Testing Lab


Instructor Specific Information:

  • Send a list of who will be taking the test with copies of the test to the Testing Lab at least one school day in advance.  We will do our best to accommodate your timeframe

  • To reserve Lab space outside of regular Testing Lab hours or larger facilities for whole class testing, call 796-8495

  • Tell your students location and times for  testing


Materials:

  • Only materials specified by instructors are allowed.  Students must provide their own pens, pencils and other items permitted by instructors

  • For Course Placement, pencils and scrap paper are provided in the Lab

  • Cell phones, pagers and other devices are not allowed in the lab during testing


Course Placement:

Students must show a valid photo ID and the admissions acceptance letter

Reading and Math are computerized

The Nursing program allows only one re-take of Course Placement


Preparation:

Students should take time to prepare for exams by visiting the Center for Student Success for help with test taking strategies, coping skills for test anxiety, and study strategies to learn the material.  Drop by Bert Walker Hall Room 125 or call (517) 796-8415.
