Preparation course for the GED

This course prepares learners for the five tests that comprise the GED: Writing, Social Studies, Science, Reading and Mathematics. A computer-assisted program designed for adult learners is used. It is self-paced and flexible, allowing students to study whenever it suits their schedules. The instruction is individualized, guiding students to work only on areas that they need to study. An instructor is available to guide the student and offer additional study aids. A GED book is available in the JCC bookstore.

  • Language Arts – Writing
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Language Arts – Literature (reading)
  • Mathematics

To enroll, students must complete an application for admission to JCC. Then they enroll in the course. Students can re-enroll each semester until they have passed all five GED tests.

  • There is no charge for assessment.
  • Students may enroll any time.
  • Once enrolled, students may use the program as often as they like during the open hours of the Center for Student Success in Bert Walker Hall. Fall and Winter hours are (Call for Spring/Summer hours):
    • Monday thru Thursday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    • Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 4 :00 p.m.
