Murrow’s Boys is pleased to be part of the ongoing
buzz about downtown Jackson’s new acoustic venue, the
Jackson Coffee Co. The band is honored to be of an
ongoing concert series that includes noted musicians
like Annie and Rod Capps, Jen Sygit and “Postal” Miles
NcNiff.
Murrow’s Boys is a new project that has just started
making waves in metro Detroit’s acoustic scene.
Veterans of the Detroit music scene, Greg Marten and
James Murphy share guitar, bass and vocal duties while
Ken Marten’s harmonica rides the rhythm and provides
leads.
“We jumped at the chance to get on board at a new
venue,” Greg said. “I always like lending a helping
hand to anyone new to the music scene. And since
Murrow’s Boys is just getting off the ground too, it’s
like a mutual assistance partnership. We also grateful
to Miles for agreeing to share the evening with us.”
The trio’s socially aware lyrics complement its
alternative acoustic stew of folk and rock, garnished
with blues. Gifted songsmiths, the Marten brothers
have been making music together on and off for 20
years, starting in their hometown of Mt. Pleasant. The
equally talented Murphy, a lifelong metro Detroiter,
seamlessly blends with the Martens’ style.
Stop by the Jackson Coffee Co. for great brew and
great music.
