Working at school can make life easier
JCC jobs can save time and provide a good experience

Any job has benefits, but few can match the power of one from attaining a job here at Jackson Community College: convenience.
For unemployed students attending JCC, there's no reason to complain about the lack of jobs. JCC is offering an array of jobs around campus, and it would appear to be very practical to have a job in the same place that you attend school.
For most students in the Jackson area, getting a job that's close to home would seem to make the most sense. Unfortunately, not all of those students live close their job and their school, given JCC's location. With few businesses and job opportunities surrounding JCC, students may end up getting jobs that are a considerably long drive from school. This can cause major difficulties in daily scheduling.
But what about the days that include going to school in the morning, then driving all the way across town to get to work in the evening? While this may be a common schedule for some students, having a job at JCC would take care of that issue. By having a job on campus, students can easily work hours around classes and would be within walking distance of their job, should work begin soon after a class.
"A great reason to get a job at JCC is that they cannot interfere with your classes," said JCC student ambassador Amber Hancock. "If you have to call in because you have too much homework, they are always OK with it."
Obviously, it wouldn't be very sensible to work at a job solely for a convenient location.
"I also feel that having a job on campus helps you to be more involved and care more about the things that go on," Hancock said. "I also like meeting new people because it really does make a difference on how you view your college experience."
Among the jobs on campus are catering, note-taking for students with hearing disabilities and tutoring. Students graduate and/or leave each semester, so there are always job openings.
