“The flag, which we honor and under which we serve, is the emblem of our unity, power, our thought and purpose as a nation.” - President Woodrow Wilson 1917.

As Chelsea Currie, Rebecca Carter, and Dan Justice held hands and prayed under the flagpole at JCC’s new dorm, Campus View, this statement was rang true. Currie, a student and resident advisor at Campus View, stood praying with her head down as her long hair blew in the wind. The flag above her billowed majestically at half mast.

Justice was responsible for the group meeting at the flag pole for prayer and reflection.

“I am glad that some people came. I will make better fliers next time. Hopefully more people will show up,’ he replied with a smile. He continued, “God has a plan for us all, and when we listen we know best how to navigate the devil’s minefield.” Meanwhile, Carter was responsible for putting together the dorm’s new Leadership Committee. The three, all residents of Campus View, plan to hold Bible study groups in the near future. “I didn’t start it, but I was the one who organized it, she explained.

Currently Campus View has 94 residents. The male to female ratio is even and the buildings are coed.

“That is two away from the max,” said Currie. All three described loving life as a full-time campus resident.

While Justice drew a diagram of a typical dorm room on a piece of paper, Carter explained that, “The rooms are so spacious, I just love it. Some of us are living better than our parents.” There is a kitchen and living area in each room. Each side has its own bathroom to share. With a washer on the second floor and a balcony, it sounds like the perfect place to live. Good people, close to home, and excellent security. Justice isn’t fond of the security cards though. “It can be a pain getting in because the cards are all upside down, but I still love it,” he stated.

Campus View isn’t just for living, but learning as well. Located only a few minutes from anywhere on campus it gives students access to class as well as the library to study. Being on campus has made Justice a better student.

“I get a lot done living here,” he said.

Thinking about moving in?

“It’s simple,” said Currie. “Just mail or fax the proper forms which can be picked up in the office of Residence Life, located in the Fieldhouse. You can even call.”
