Step Into "Stepcrew"

Despite the passing of St. Patrick’s Day, we can still look forward to celebrating the Irish heritage this spring.

“Stepcrew” is the next exciting performance scheduled at the JCC Potter Center for Saturday April 12, at 8 p.m. It displays a blend of Irish step dancing and modern tap, as well as a rare form of dance called Ottawa Valley step dancing. This style of dance originated from Canada, and is a mixture between tap and Irish dancing.

The troupe of seven dancers, vocalist and four piece band was founded by Jon Pilatzke, Cara Butler and Nathan Pilatzke of The Chieftains, along with Stephanie Cadman from Bowfire and Dan Stacey of Seven Nations. The show is choreographed by Sarah Uddin and Joe Dwyer of Riverdance.

Dance is not the only form of art this show features. Audiences will also enjoy fiddlers performing various styles of music, including French and Celtic pieces. This show is appropriate for people of all ages, and with tickets costing $18-26.

Tickets can be purchased at the Potter Center Ticket Office, (517) 796-8600, or can be found online at the JCC website at www.jccmi.edu. There is a student discount of $5 off on all listed ticket prices.
