Initials Title Description

BC

Blended Course

Students who place into ENG 090 have the option of enrolling in a Blended Course. Blended Courses (BCs) allow students to co-enroll in two courses, one developmental (ENG091) and one required for most degrees (ENG131),  taken during the same semester with the same instructor.

Benefits: The ENG 091 course helps students successfully complete ENG 131. Students can finish both writing courses in the same semester, saving themselves an extra semester in a writing course. ENG 091 features a smaller class size, one-on-one conference opportunities, small groups and individualized help that focused on what students need in order to be successful – the perfect blend for writing at the college level.

IC

Integrated Course

Integrated Courses at JC link two classes, a developmental course and First-Year Seminar. This provides students and instructors with extended opportunities to cultivate skills and competencies and to determine educational and career goals.

SI

Supplemental Instructor

A supplemental instructor is a student who assists in the classroom, answering questions and acting as a tutor during class time.
