Attention all students enrolling in English 090, 080, 085, 131 or 132:  Revision in English curriculum effective Fall 04

Beginning in Fall 04, all developmental reading, developmental writing and college composition classes will have new requirements, numbers and hours. English 101 and 102, Introduction to Writing I and II, will have one, new number:  English 090. English 090 will be repeatable for credit by students who need additional practice with writing skills.  English 109 and 110, Reading Essentials and College Reading, will also be renumbered and will become English 080 and 085.  These courses are now four (4) credits each with the schedule reflecting the additional lab and workshop times.  English 131 and 132, while remaining 3 credits for transfer purposes, are now four (4) contact hours. Students will complete sixteen (16) hours of writing lab, of tutoring and of workshops over the course of the semester. These hours will allow students more access to faculty, to specifically designed workshops to meet their individual writing needs and to additional writing experiences for those specializing in disciplines outside of the humanities.

At the beginning of the semester, each student will receive a copy of the Writing Assistance Access Report for use during the semester.  Please review the sample form at  Sample Form  and bring questions to the attention of the faculty at the beginning of the semester.  Individual faculty will explain all opportunities to students.

Please contact the Language, Literature and Arts Department or individual faculty for more information on this new program (796-8582).
