What questions do I need to ask myself?

- What subject will I teach?
- Where will I transfer?
- What grade level will I teach?
- When do I apply to my transfer school and their school of education?
- What does my transfer school of education require to get into their program?
- When will I take the Basic MTTC Skills Test?
- Is my transfer school of choice able to certify me in the area I would like to teach?
- Is the subject area I would like to teach in certifiable?
- How many courses/credits are required for my teaching major/minor?
- Does the transfer institution require major/minor courses?
- Where do I want teach? City/State
- Does my city/state/community need teachers in my desired teaching subject?
- Is there a sequence to the course work in my teaching "major" subject?
- How many students are admitted to the school of education?
- Have I applied to get into the transfer school? When are their "school of education" admission dates?
- What is the GPA requirement, if any, to get into my transfer school of education?
- When will I take my subject matter tests for certification?
- What type of teaching certificate do I want to pursue?
- Have I ever been convicted of a felony? Misdemeanor?
- Would I be "clean" on a criminal investigation check through the Michigan Investigation Bureau?
- What is the salary for a first year teacher in Michigan? Will that meet my expenses?
