Student Excellence Awards Q & A's
If you have been nominated for one of our Student Excellence Awards, congratulations! Most students have many questions. If we haven't answered them here, please feel free to contact Karen Marler at email@example.com or 517-796-8627, or the person who may be noted in your invitation.
When is the 2014 Awards Ceremony?
The 2014 Student Excellence Award ceremony will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Michael Baughman Theatre at 5:30 p.m. Please arrive 25 minutes early so we can get you checked in and seated before the ceremony begins.
When will I receive my invitation?
Your invitation will be mailed the end of March and beginning of April 2014.
Why was I nominated?
Students are being recognized from several areas. Your invitation will state the award(s) you are receiving.
Who can I bring with me?
We encourage you to invite as many friends and family you would like to celebrate this event with you.
Where do I go?
Go to the second floor of the George E. Potter Center, Michael Baughman Theatre. At that time you will need to check in and pick up your awards card for the ceremony. You will be separated from your guests and seated in the designated front rows of the theatre for easy access to the stage.
Is the theatre handicap accessible?
Yes. Please contact us in advance for directions on where to go if you are receiving an award. Guests may take the elevator to the second floor and we will seat them.
What should I wear?
You will be standing in front of a large crowd. Dress in appropriate attire for receiving an award.
Where do I pick up my certificate?
This year, we will not be distributing certificates. Shortly after the evening of the ceremony, you will receive a personalized letter from President Daniel J. Phelan congratulating you on your recognition and delineating the areas of recognition for your awards. This letter will be a great addition to your portfolio.
What is included at the reception?
The reception will have light refreshments.
What if I can't make it to the ceremony?
If you are unable to attend, your letter or recognition will be mailed to the address we have on file for you. Please be sure to check you student account on e-Services and make sure we have your correct mailing information.
Who can I contact if I have more questions?
You can contact Karen Marler in the Academic Deans' Office at firstname.lastname@example.org, or the person who may be noted on the invitation you receive.
