Financial Aid Types

Types of financial aid at JCC

The Financial Aid Office administers federal, state, institutional and private sources of financial support. You may qualify for one or more of these four types of financial aid.

  • Grant or scholarship - gift assistance you do not have to repay.
  • Loan - borrowed money you must repay with interest.
  • Work-study - part-time employment on or off campus.

Institutional
  • JCC Presidential Scholarships - Application
    The JCC Presidential Scholarship is an academic award for high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who plan to attend JCC full-time beginning in the Fall semester immediately after high school graduation. This 'tuition-only' scholarship is awarded annually and divided equally between Fall and Winter semesters. Recipients are required to enroll full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) for each semester. The Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a second academic year at JCC provided the student maintains full-time enrollment and continues to earn a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.

    Dozens of private scholarships are awarded at JCC based on criteria set up by the sponsoring organizations and donors. For more information click on JCC Foundation Scholarships.
Other
  • Datatel Scholarship - more information external site
    The Datatel Scholars Foundation (DSF), an independent tax-exempt foundation, awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending eligible Datatel client institutions.
  • Hillsdale County Community Foundation - more information external site
    The Hillsdale County Community Foundation offers over 70 scholarships to area students. Scholarship awards vary in size and number, and are available for both graduating high school seniors and non-traditional students.
  • Jack Kent Cooke Foundation - more information
    The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each year awards approximately 50 scholarships to students attending community colleges or two-year institutions in the US and planning to transfer to four-year institutions. Each award covers a portion of educational expenses, including tuition, living expenses, required fees, and books for the final two to three years of the baccalaureate degree.

  • John George Student Loan Fund - more information
    John George, the founder of the Jackson Citizen Patriot, orginate a trust fund for loaning students money to attend universities, colleges and community colleges supported by the State of Michigan, i.e. state schools. The John George Student Loan Fund will loan qualified students up to $4,000.00 per year at a 2% interest rate to attend state supported schools.
