Before Michael W. Smith was one of Christian music’s most influential and pioneering artists, he was just a songwriter hoping to find his proverbial sea legs in a city full of musicians — Nashville, Tenn. It was in 1979 that Michael recommitted his life to Christianity and later, hit the road on his first tour with the group Higher Ground. Two years later, Michael was signed as a songwriter with Meadowgreen Music where he wrote for everyone from Sandi Patty to Bill Gaither to Amy Grant, and eventually toured with Grant as a keyboardist. Before long, Michael was Amy’s opening act and well on his way to becoming a household name. Merging a progressive pop sound with lyrics that boldly reflect his faith, Michael delivers a high-energy stage show while belting out his songs, such as “Place in This World” and “I Will Be Here For You.” Today he is one of the best-selling and most influential artists in Contemporary Christian music. Michael is joined by special guest Jason Crabb, former lead vocalist of the group The Crabb Family.
