Community Service
Volunteers are important to the vitality of a community. Whether working with emergency services or a scout troop, in a community clean up campaign or as a nonprofit board member, time and skills donated to others support healthy communities.
And everybody wins! The participant received training in leadership and teambuilding while enjoying a sense of accomplishment and pride in giving back; the community may be able to leverage volunteer efforts with financial support which will expand services; the College becomes a part of the solution to community problems and gains a reputation as a good citizen, while employees “put a face” to the college.
Jackson Community College encourages employees to commit time to volunteerism and provides release time for hourly employees to participate in community service activities.
