Health Clinic

Jackson College has partnered with Henry Ford Jackson Hospital to offer healthcare to Jackson College students and employees. The Jackson College Health Clinic (JCHC) is located on Central Campus in the Justin Whiting Hall, Room 111. The caring and professional staff at the JCHC provides quality healthcare, including annual exams (physicals, program physicals and sports physicals), acute and chronic illness care and preventative health care (It’s Your Life).

APPPOINTMENTS REQUIRED

If you do not have an appointment, please call 517.990.1374 before entering the Health Clinic. If you have COVID symptoms, you must wait in your car or your dorm room until you have contacted the Health Clinic for instructions.

  • Employees: $10

After Hours Care

The hours listed above are the only hours medical personnel are available to answer questions and concerns. For after hours and weekends, use your local urgent care or emergency for any healthcare issues.

Services & Cost

Visits to the health clinic are available for acute care for current JC students and employees. Students must pay a $5 charge and employees a $10 charge in the form of cash, check or credit/debit card at the time of the visit. Consumables such as vaccinations, etc. above the normal supplies are extra. While the clinic cannot accept insurance, we can provide receipts that patients may submit to their insurance companies for reimbursement.

The clinic offers services similar to other medical clinics including:

  • Health care for minor illness and injuries
  • Physical exams
  • Immunizations/flu vaccines
  • Prescriptions
  • Women’s health services
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Information and referral assistance
  • Mental health assessments and referrals
  • Tuberculosis testing
  • Glucose monitoring
  • Urinalysis
  • Sexually transmitted disease counseling, testing and referral
  • Smoking cessation
  • Eating disorders
  • Health care for chronic illness
  • COVID-19 testing

Insurance

Use of the clinic is available to all current employees and students at minimal cost. Lab work may be billed to insurance. The clinic can provide receipts that patients may submit to the insurance companies for reimbursement. A payment of $5 for students and $10 for employees is due at the time of service.

Confidentiality

Clinic records are strictly confidential. We will not release any information unless given specific, written consent by the patient.

Staff

Rachel-NicholsRachel Nichols, Nurse Practitioner

Rachel Nichols received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Western Michigan University in 2005 and then her Masters of Science in Nursing with specialty in Family practice from Michigan State University in 2011. She is nationally certified through the ANCC in family practice. Rachel is also a member of the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners and the American College Health Association.
