Gaming Network Access Request/How to find MAC Address

If you own a Playstation, Nintendo Wii, Xbox, etc. and you live in Campus View 1 or 2 you may request access to the JC Gaming Network for your game system, Smart TV or Apple TV. You need the MAC address of your game system to register it. Once you have your MAC address please submit a Work Request via email to the JC Solution Center. If you are not sure how to find your device's MAC address, please consult the device specific instructions below. Connection to the gaming network for PCs is not an available service at this time.

At the end of each semester JC Gaming Network Accounts will be deactivated. If you continue to be one of our Campus View Residents you will be required to submit a request for JC Gaming Network access each semester.

To submit a Work Request

  • Click on the "Work Request" link above or compose a new email to jcsolutioncenter@jccmi.edu
  • In the body of the email please type the following information:
    • JC ID number
    • Full Name
    • Gaming device that you wish to register with us for use with the Gaming Network (for example, xbox 360, PS4, Apple TV)
    • Which Building you currently live in (CV1 or CV2)
    • Your Suite Number and Letter
    • You may take a picture of the MAC Address screen on your gaming system and attach it to the email or type in the MAC Address in the email. Make sure you type it in exactly as it appears on your screen, one mistake will prevent us from being able to add a valid account for you until a correct address is provided.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

You are responsible for all activity that takes place from the equipment registered to you.

Nintendo 3DS

To set up your Nintendo 3DS follow these steps:

  • From the Home Menu select System Settings
  • Select Internet Settings
  • Tap Other Information
  • Tap Confirm MAC Address and you will see your MAC Address listed.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday . Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Nintendo DS

  • First insert a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection compatible game and access the WFC Setup Utility. Please note that the exact steps to access the setup utility varies by game. However, the setup utility is a standard menu, included with all WFC-compatible games.
  • After accessing the utility, tap "Options," then "System Information."
  • The MAC Address and Nintendo WFC ID will be listed on the screen. Unless the game player has successfully connected with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the WFC ID will be blank.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Nintendo Wii

If you have a web browser for the Nintendo Wii, you can connect to the internet with the web browser and fill out the registration form. If you do not have the web browser, please follow the steps below:

  • Turn on the Wii.
  • From the Wii Menu, select Wii Options. (It is the round button in the lower left corner that says "Wii".)
  • Select Wii Settings.
  • Scroll to the right to Wii System Settings 2.
  • Select Internet.
  • Select Console Information.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Nintendo Wii U

To set up your Wii U follow these steps:

  • Turn on your Wii U and from the main menu, select System Settings
  • Using the left stick select the Internet icon and press the A Button
  • Select View MAC Address and wait a moment for the MAC Address to be displayed.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

PlayStation 2

To set up your PlayStation 2 on the network, you must first install the network adapter. You can use the instructions found in the installation guide or on the PlayStation 2 Network Adapter web site. Once you have installed the network adapter you are ready to begin the registration process.

  • Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adapter Startup CD.
  • Once it has loaded, select ISP Setup and press X.
  • The ISP SETUP will begin to load, and you will be presented with a license agreement. Select Agree and press X to continue.
  • For connection type, choose Local Area Network (LAN) and press X to continue.
  • Select Automatic Configuration and press X to continue.
  • At the connection test screen, select Advanced and press X to continue.
  • At the Advanced Broadband Settings screen, make sure Automatic is selected. While you are at this screen, make note of the MAC Address at the bottom. It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. You will need this number to register your game console.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

PlayStation 3

To set up the PlayStation 3 follow these steps:

  • Power up the PlayStation 3 without any disc in the drive.
  • Once the PlayStation 3 operating system has loaded, select "Settings."
  • Once you are in "Settings" select "Network Settings."
  • When the "Network Settings" list appears, select the first option which is titled "Settings and Connection Status List."
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

PlayStation 4

To set up your PlayStation 4 follow these steps:

  • Turn on your PS4 and wait for the Dynamic menu to appear.
  • Press up on the D-Pad and scroll to the right, select Settings.
  • Scroll down and select System in the Settings menu.
  • Your MAC address should be displayed by the subject title MAC Address(LAN Cable).
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • GJC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

PlayStation Vita

To set up your PlayStation 4 follow these steps:

  • Open the settings app.
  • Scroll until you see System Options and tap on it.
  • Tap System Information
  • Your MAC Address is listed here.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Xbox 360

  • Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  • Select Edit Settings.
  • From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  • At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Xbox

To set up your Xbox follow these steps:

  • Turn on your Xbox console with no game disc in the disc tray.
  • From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Settings.
  • From the Settings screen, select Network Settings.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Xbox One

To set up your Xbox One follow these steps:

  • Xbox One will want you to have an internet connection before it will allow you to see your MAC Address. Here is a way around this issue so you can collect your MAC Address and submit a work request with us.
  • Boot up the system and allow it to run the start up protocol.
  • When it fails, the One will prompt you to continue or fix.
  • Select fix it
  • The One will attempt to diagnose any issues and take you to a screen prompting you to manually set up a connection.
  • You will see your MAC Address listed on the screen.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.
  • JC Gaming Network requests will be processed once weekly every Wednesday. Once your request has been completed you will receive a closed work request email with your Gaming Network password for the semester.

Apple TV

To set up your Apple TV follow these steps:

  • Select Settings.
  • If you are using software version 1.x, select About. If you are using software version 2.0, select General, and then select About.
  • The MAC Address will be listed as either Wireless ID or Ethernet ID.
  • You can also find both the Wireless ID or Ethernet ID on the UPC label on the bottom or back of the Apple TV box, next to the serial number.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.

ROKU

To set up your Roku  follow these steps:

  • Select Settings.
  • Select About.
  • The MAC Address will be listed on the screen.
  • You can also find the MAC Address on the bottom or back of your Roku player.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.

To set up your TiVo follow these steps:

  • Press the TiVo Button to go to TiVo Central.
  • Select Messages and Settings.
  • Select Phone and Network Setup.
  • The MAC Address will be displaed at the top right-hand side of the screen.
  • To register your device, write down the "MAC Address." It will be alphanumeric and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx. Or take a picture of the screen to attach to your work request email.Then submit a work request.

BOXEE BOX

To set up your Boxee Box follow these steps:

  • Select Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Select Information.
  • The MAC Address will be displayed on the screen.

How to set up other devices

For other network devices. please consult the manufacturer's documentation for how to find the MAC address and then submit a work request with that information.

If you are having difficulty determining your MAC address please contact the JC Solution Center for assistance. In most cases you will need to bring the device, power adapter, and any instruction manuals and/or installation CDs to the JC Solution Center on the second floor of William Atkinson Hall (Central Campus).
