Cecilia Acosta

2005 - 2006 Nominee

CeciliaNominated by Aurelie Seward

It is a pleasure to be able to nominate Cecilia Acosta and in this way recognize the outstanding work she has accomplished for JCC through her work in the Information Technology (IT) area. Cecilia operates as a reliable team member who can be flexible in a changing work environment while always maintaining an excellent work ethic…an example of how we would like all of our employees to operate. She distinguishes herself daily with initiative, a willingness to learn, and her automatic response to go beyond the normal requirements of her position.

Cecilia exhibits an unending desire to learn and requested work in nearly all areas of Information Technology since she was hired. Because she succeeded in cross training herself so successfully, she has been invaluable in many areas when full-time staff is absent. This is not the norm and we recognize this special contribution to the entire IT team during a difficult time for JCC. In addition, Cecilia will always share her expertise with co-workers knowing that this will make the team stronger.

As a Lab Manager and FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Team Leader, Cecilia takes her responsibility seriously and tries to act as the model of professionalism that she believes employees should exhibit. In addition, Cecilia has been able to see when she erred and take the difficult steps of apology and change. This willingness to learn from her mistakes has brought her more respect from her team members and her supervisors.

Even the most daunting projects do not slow Cecilia down. In her first year with IT, Cecilia revised and developed the best process to-date for calendar documentation, and college-wide lab security and maintenance. Her uninhibited willingness to pitch in and complete projects is a great example to all student staff.

We think that Cecilia Acosta is well deserving of this award. It is difficult to imagine IT without Cecilia’s presence. Her perspective — helping us to see things from a different view — and her accomplishments have been invaluable and will benefit IT even when she moves on to finish her education. Thank you Cecilia, you have given us a good deal and we appreciate it.
