Atkinson Library A MichiCard sticker comes with your JCC Library card!The MichiCard program is designed to make more libraries available to more people. It allows one library’s patrons to borrow materials from other participating libraries in Michigan. All JCC students, faculty and staff are eligible for MichiCard participation. Here are some details about the program: Q. Who can receive a MichiCard borrower's sticker from JCC’s library?A. Academic libraries may attach a sticker to the faculty, staff or student library or identification card. These libraries cannot issue MichiCard stickers to the general public. The general public must obtain their MichiCard borrower's sticker from their local participating library. Q. Once a person obtains a MichiCard borrower's card or sticker, are they then ready to borrow from any participating library?A. No, people will need to register at a participating library. You will sign up with the other library using whatever form they have for adding new borrowers to their system. Q. Must a person pay a non-resident borrowing fee?A. No, all participating MichiCard libraries agree not to charge a borrowing fee for persons from MichiCard participating libraries. Q. What items can a person borrow?A. The policies and rules of the participating library always apply and determine what items are loaned. The library's policy may permit the borrowing of non-book items or may restrict the borrowing of some print items. Also, the age of the person may restrict what may be borrowed. Library users are encouraged to return materials to the lending library rather than to JCC Library; however in unusual circumstances, returns can be arranged by JCC Library. Q. Do adults have to sign for a child's card?A. The local policies and rules of the participating library dictate the minimum age for borrowing, the proof of identification required, or when and if an adult signature is required.
